August Alsina has been in the spotlight for almost a decade, but he broke the internet recently after revealing he and Will Smith’s wife had a years-long affair. It seems this announcement came just days after the release of Alsina’s latest album. Here is a look at what the entanglement and some time off has done to August Alsina’s net worth…
About August Alsina
August Anthony Alsina Jr. was born on September 3, 1992, in New Orleans. He attended school through middle school there before his family moved to Houston. Alsina and his mother relocated to Houston shortly after Hurricane Katrina hit for a fresh start. After his father died, Alsina and his mother did not get along and he was eventually kicked out of the house.
At the age of 14, Alsina began to upload videos to YouTube. His first upload was a cover of a Lyfe Jennings song. He continued to work on covers and nourishing his musical talent. After his brother was shot and killed in 2010, he decided it was time to take his music career more seriously. He moved to Atlanta to focus on it.
Alsina’s first mixtape, The Product, was released in April 2012. Then his single most popular song, I Luv This Sh*t, debuted just one year later. Since then, he has been featured on several hit songs and released numerous of his own mixtapes as well.
The artist has been working on a new mixtape since 2017 that was finally released on June 26, 2020. This was just four days prior to Alsina revealing he and Jada Pinkett Smith had had an affair. Then he and fellow rapper Rick Ross partnered together to release a song called Entanglements, making a reference to how Jada considered the relationship.
Now that he is back in the spotlight, what has all of this done for August Alsina’s net worth?

In 2020, it is estimated that August Alsina’s net worth is $4 million. Much of his wealth has stemmed from his music career as well as endorsement deals, namely Beats by Dre. He is also well known for his work with at-risk youth programs.
Like many other R&B and hip-hop artists, Alsina has flashed plenty of his dollars over the years. In fact, he wound up being evicted from his home last year because he was not able to afford the rent. At the time of eviction, he was being sued for $20,000 in back rent payments. Alsina took out the lease in 2016 when his career was still at a high. However, since then, he has not worked as much.
Although he does not have any children of his own, Alsina does care for his nieces. He gained custody of them after his brother’s wife passed away years ago. Outside of that, Alsina is not married and has never been. The hip-hop and R&B star gained more visibility in recent months after it was revealed he and Jada Pinkett Smith had an affair a few years ago. According to Alsina, the relationship hurt him mentally and may have harmed his career in the long-run as well.
