Kody rose to fame when TLC approached him about doing a show. The network had interest in Kody and his family because they were polygamists. It made its debut on the small screen in 2010. At the time, he was married to three women: Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, and Christine Brown.

The show followed the family’s unconventional way of living. Eventually, Kody began to seek out a fourth wife and the show documented the courting and then wedding between Kody and Robyn.
In addition to his four wives, Kody fathered 18 children. The family is massive and they were all living in harmony, for a while anyway. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the family started to fall apart. Some of Kody’s children butted heads with him about his new COVID rules for the house and then his wives slowly started getting tired of his crap too.

Meri legally divorced Kody so that he could marry Robyn and adopt her children from her previous marriage.
