I’m guest posting over at Making Sense of Cents today so check it out!
Whoo! Another cash giveaway, just in time for the end of the month…or New Years Eve!! Not that I’m suggesting you take the $100.00 and blow it on a good time, since we all know whoever wins is going to responsibly use it
Seriously though, we’ve all been there, at least I certainly have. The end of the month comes and we’re scrambling for funds to basically appear from thin air to make ends meet. I was getting very frustrated with trying to make our budget work; the numbers on the spreadsheet said we should be ok, yet week after week, I was scrambling to execute it properly. Hubby finally stepped in as my ‘financial knight in shining armor’ (or, if I’m being honest, my knight in pj pants and favorite graphic t-shirt
), helped me work it out and we’ve been golden ever since.
It took two brains to work our issues out and a lot of hard work, dedication and COMMUNICATION to fix our messes. I’m happy to say that we’re no longer short come the end of the month and everything is being paid on-time, if not early thanks to Mr. PJ pants; so now we’re working on building back our e-fund and can actually give our debts the attention the deserve.
Just in time for the New Year, here’s a chance to win $100.00 to help balance your monthly budget so you’re not caught in the cycle we once were.
Contest runs December 17-29th, with your option of $100.00 Paypal Cash or $100.00 Amazon Gift card. If you’re interested in participating in future giveaways, check it out.
Good Luck and Happy Budget Balancing!

Being short cash at the end of the month can REALLY motivate you to get your finances in order. I know for me personally, having a $1k/month student loan to pay has made me adamant about making $1k/month on the side to at least cover that. The next goal would be to cover our mortgage.

If things get tight at the end of the month, we just go on a major spending freeze!
There wasn’t an extra info box, but I subscribed to I Heart Budgets email as acluisi at hotmail
It’s tough to be short at the end of the month. That’s why we all need a bit of cushion in our checking account and some emergency fund. I’ll head over to enter.

Selling extra stuff on Craigslist worked for me. It is a horrible feeling though and hope to never go through it again.

COMMUNICATION! Great point there – especially between couples. Mrs Scot and I sit down each week / fortnight and go through our spending. It’s good to talk

Good thing you were able to talk it through, money can be a big source of tension and it is so each to blame the other one for all the problems.

My fiancé is a huge part of making our monthly budget work. He pays such close attention to it, I rarely worry about going over budget. I don’t know what I’d do without him!
